Finally, after many attempts to read through John Palmer’s book on the internet, I’ve decided to buy the book. £11.86 that was worth every penny, and I’m planning on reading it from cover to cover. I’ve mentioned that I’ve realised that I know very little about beer making, after reading some sites and blogs out there, so this book will tie it up perfectly, and I hope to know much more by the next brew day.
I remember that to make my first beer I just read his page “How to brew your first beer“, and that’s it, I was successful and hooked. As with all things that you start to really enjoy, the book was an inevitable step, I’m excited.
I know that this blog is all about good craft beers, made at home or by some small exotic brewery, but sometimes when I just want to have a beer, that idea of popping open a £2-£3 small bottle/can of beer just makes me cringe a little, I don’t know seems like it’s too much for just an afternoon of sitting and reading my new Home Brew book, so here is my confession – I buy beer in the supermarket too! Not only a supermarket, but my local Tesco express. Personally, my to have in the house at all times is the Old Speckled Hen amber ale. It’s thick and nice but not overpowering, and you can always pick it at a great deal, what more you can ask?
Any recommendation on other household supermarket bought good beers to get? Preferably in the UK, but willing to know about other locals when I visit. Leave my a note about your favourite.
