My beer making setup, aka a small flat brewery
First step in talking about making beer is the tools of the trade. My home brewery consists of very few tools and our kitchen. A simple setup that can be stored away in any flat and used when ever in the mood for some beer making adventures.
The tools that I actually use are:
20L food grade plastic bucket with a breather
10L food grade plastic bucket with a breather
1L measuring jug
47 pop top brown glass bottles
Small funnel
Thermometer
Hydrometer
Wooden spoon
Bottle brush
VWP sterilizer
6L Stainless steel pot (Belongs to the house hold)
Metal sieve (Belongs to the house hold)
That’s it to ma
ke beer. All that takes a little room in our washing machine cupboard, hanging on one of the pipes. The rest just buying the right ingredients, and making beer. I can’t remember the cost of it all, but it was no more than £40, and rent…
Besides the regular things, 2 really important tools are actually internet tools:
How To Home Brew by John Palmer – an absolutely great (and free) book/site about home brewing, It can be very technical, but if you want a crash course, he has a great one page intro.
Balliihoo eBay Home Brew store – Nice and convenient store, ships quickly, and they have a 4+1 policy, and will refund the cheapest one.
So no more excuses – if you always wanted to home brew just get £40 worth of tools, some ingredients (on that later on) and start brewing.
